Kyneton Neighbourhood Guide – $5.00
Snapshot
Kyneton’s historic charm, dating back to the 1850s gold rush era, is evident in the beautiful buildings that line its streets, creating a characterful backdrop for a leisurely stroll. The rejuvenation of many of these buildings has made the town thrive as a hub for culture and creativity.
Discover an eclectic mix of antique and vintage stores, art galleries, retro pubs and cosy cafes, alongside boutique shops, country bakeries, wine bars and delicious gourmet eateries. Or explore sprawling gardens, walking trails and award-winning wineries, all within easy reach of town.

The basics
- Where is it?
Kyneton is located in the Macedon Ranges in central Victoria – a 70 minute drive from Melbourne’s CBD, along the Calder Freeway. Or take the V/Line regional train from Southern Cross Station for an easy journey that’s just over an hour. - When to visit?
Year-round, but in April and May the autumn leaves make for a particularly beautiful visit. During winter it can get very (very!) cold but we love rugging up and finding a cosy spot to enjoy a glass of red wine. - Where to stay?
There are plenty of lovely options available on Airbnb – we stayed at The Garden Tap House in historic Piper Street. Flophouse has some more luxurious options, and there’s the very-Instagrammable House of Sol for an extra-special stay.
Kyneton offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure, and a taste of regional Victorian hospitality at its finest.

Tried & tested
We are Tim and Steph, two creatives hailing from the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia (learn more about us ). Over countless trips, we’ve built a habit of digging deeper than the typical tourist trail.
We sort through the viral TikTok venues and the overpriced tourist traps, and we collect tips from friends who have visited. We chat with chefs, baristas and shop owners and ask about their must-visit destinations and locals’ secrets — not the places on the ‘top ten’ or ‘hot’ lists, but the ones that locals return to again and again. Slowly piecing together a picture of what makes each place unique.
Then we try them all ourselves, hand-picking our favourite places to eat, shop and explore, and the experiences that capture the heart of each neighbourhood.
The neighbourhood places that are recommended are obviously chosen with great care and discerning taste.
Mosey guides are such a fun adventure. You think you know somewhere, and then you’re sent off on a treasure hunt, and the treasure is always good!!
The guide is extremely informative and detailed. We have visited many of the hand picked spots and used the interactive map.
For the cost of a cup of coffee, you can find out where to go for the best coffee, a relaxed vibe, fabulous food or a delicious pastry.
